Today, in the selection of suppliers and products, large-scale retailers pay more and more attention to Residual Control as a key element in determining quality. It is no longer sufficient assessing quality solely based on the external appearance or organoleptic characteristics of the product; strict application of food safety parameters is also essential. In this context, our direct and established relationship with trusted producers is of crucial importance.Through the Production Specifications, we provide producers with precise indications on the substances and treatments to be used, specifying the days of deficiency to be observed. This ensures that, at harvest time, the products comply with the residue limits in accordance with current health regulations, as well as the customers’ more restrictive limits.

Over the years, market expansion has required Villafrut to continuously adapt its structure, including the supply chain. Thus, in a context of declining domestic agricultural production, it became natural to turn to foreign producers. Initially we focused on the Mediterranean basin (Spain, France, Morocco, Greece, Egypt) and today we also expand to Eastern Europe (Albania, Romania, Slovakia) and, for some productions, overseas.

By searching for specific products, we target the most suitable production areas, selecting the companies that offer the most history and guarantee quality, punctuality and continuity of supply. The notoriety of the Villafrut and Jolife brands facilitates this scouting activity, attracting numerous producers who spontaneously propose themselves. Producers are selected by assessing their identity, the products they grow, their geographical location, the certifications they hold, the markets they operate in, and their ability to meet our product, seasonality and reliability parameters.

Currently, the relationship with producers is evolving more and more towards a partnership, with the adoption of Production Plans that direct agricultural activity towards the crops most in demand on the market, specifying product type, quantity and periodicity. This allows farms to concentrate on production, ‘relieved’ of the marketing aspects, which are managed by Villafrut.

All the selected farms share with Villafrut the attention and sensitivity to the changing needs of the market, especially with regard to guarantees of genuineness, offering a production system managed in an entrepreneurial way and committing themselves to comply with the Production Specifications and the rules contained therein.

In the context of a reciprocal relationship, producers share their ideas, reasons and needs with Villafrut through an open dialogue that is renewed year after year, helping to consolidate solid ties over time.

Traceability along the supply chain makes it possible to monitor the entire life cycle of a food, from production to sale to the end consumer, thus guaranteeing the safety and authenticity of products.

It is essential to provide consumers with truthful information on the cultivation and origin of food.

In the B2B sector, traceability has been in place for more than a decade: two codes make it possible to identify the producer and read the entire history and route of the crate or basket.

SPRING
"Sustainable Programme for Irrigation and Groundwater Use (SPRING)" aims to make it easier for producers, stakeholders in the agri-food chain and customers of the certified product to demonstrate their commitment to more responsible water management on farms.
GRASP
GRASP is the abbreviation for "GLOBALG.A.P Risk Assessment on Social Practices": it is an additional module of the GLOBALG.A.P Standard focused on the assessment of social aspects related to the activities of workers in agriculture, used in practice to assess the risk of bad social pr,actices in the sector.

CCPB is a certification and inspection body for agri-food and non-food products obtained in the organic eco-friendly eco-sustainable sector.
