A controlled supply
chain tracing a
path of quality.

Through close cooperation with supplier farms and an efficient logistics network, Villafrut guarantees product quality and safety, controlling the entire supply chain from the field to delivery to the retail trade.Production is subject to controls by Villafrut agronomists, who check the state of cultivation from the beginning of the season (before flowering) until the end of the campaign, with possible intermediate visits, in addition to spot checks carried out by the growers themselves. Reference laboratories carry out, on our behalf and on the same day, the analysis of pesticide residues at different levels of the chain for strict monitoring of the healthiness of the products.
The entire processing and packaging of our fruit and vegetables follows the guidelines set by the IFS Wholesale® standard with respect to hygiene, safety and quality.

During harvesting and preparation, strict hygiene standards are applied to ensure the freshness and integrity of the products. For more fragile products, for which too many ‘changes of hands’ are not recommended, processing and packaging are carried out on the farms themselves.

Modern storage and transport technologies then ensure that fruit and vegetables retain their nutritional and organoleptic properties until consumption.

Finally, traceability makes it possible to identify the entire route of each individual product. This allows consumers to know its origin, right down to the individual field plots.

Villafrut offers direct supervision at all stages of the supply chain, from the cultivation guidelines to the technical agronomic assistance offered to producers and international marketing expertise.

In its supply chain, Villafrut faces several crucial challenges by committing to:

  • Ensure accessibility to healthy food and promote increased consumption of fruit and vegetables in the daily diet.
  • Promoting sustainable farming practices that respect the environment and working conditions.
  • Reduce the use of pesticides and agrochemicals.
  • Minimising waste and losses throughout the supply chain.
  • Supporting small producers by offering support in production and access to markets.
  • Collaborate with research organisations, such as universities, to deepen knowledge about the supply chain and promote its sustainability.
